TRAINEE COACH

JOB PURPOSE

As a Trainee Recreational Gymnastics Coach, you will work closely with our experienced coaches to learn how to plan, deliver, and support the implementation of fun and effective gymnastics programs for children. This role offers the chance to develop your skills, gain qualifications, and play a key part in the growth and development of our recreational gymnastics programs.

We are looking for a passionate and energetic individual to join our team as a Trainee Recreational Gymnastics Coach. MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

COACHING

  • Assist senior coaches in delivering dynamic and age-appropriate gymnastics classes for children of all abilities.
  • Learn to deliver structured lesson plans and activities that focus on building fundamental gymnastics skills in a fun and safe environment.
  • Support participants in their progression and encourage a positive attitude toward learning.
  • Help maintain a safe and engaging environment by ensuring equipment is used correctly and reporting any safety concerns.
  • Observed and assisted in the delivery of gymnastics sessions, learning how to manage and support groups of children.
  • Participate in coaching meetings and contribute ideas for lesson plans and program development.

 

TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT

  • Receive hands-on training and mentoring from experienced gymnastics coaches.
  • Gain knowledge in planning, delivering, and adapting gymnastics programs for different age groups and skill levels.
  • Learn to adhere to The Yard's safeguarding, health & safety, and equality practices.
  • Attend training courses, coaching clinics, and team meetings to further your personal and professional development.

 

 GENERAL

  • Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and professionalism at all times.
  • Be punctual, reliable, and maintain a positive attitude toward work.
  • Engage with children in a manner that is supportive, encouraging, and respectful.
  • Assist in the maintenance and presentation of the gym, ensuring it remains a safe and inviting space for all participants.
  • Support senior coaches and the wider team in day-to-day tasks as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • No prior coaching experience is required, though any experience working with children or in sports is an advantage.
  • A passion for gymnastics and working with children.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop your coaching skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to demonstrate a positive attitude toward learning and development.
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and care in a gym environment.

JOB PURPOSE

As a Recreational Gymnastics and Ninja Coach and Administrator, you will be responsible for delivering age-appropriate gymnastics and ninja programs for Early Years, Kinder, and Junior levels. You will assist in the continued development of our recreational program, ensuring a fun, safe, and structured environment for all participants. Your role will also include supporting the administration and maintenance aspects of the gym to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

We are seeking a motivated and passionate individual to join our team as a Recreational Gymnastics and Ninja Coach and Administrator. In this exciting role, you will help us deliver high-quality recreational programs while supporting the development and administration of our curriculum.

 

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

COACHING

  • Deliver fun, dynamic, and motivating gymnastics and ninja training programs, ensuring strong progression across all age and ability levels.
  • Teach Early Years and Junior recreational programs, fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Planned and implemented age-appropriate gymnastics curriculums and lesson plans in collaboration with the recreation manager.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of participants, coaches, and yourself, adhering to The Yard’s health and safety protocols.
  • Actively contribute to coaching clinics and professional development opportunities.
  • Foster effective communication with all staff, parents, and participants.
  • Assist in the training and development of junior coaches, supporting them with best practices for coaching and safety.

 

ADMINISTRATION

  • Collaborate with the Senior Recreational Coach in developing, structuring, and scheduling recreational programs.
  • Assist in the development of lesson plans, circuits, and overall curriculum delivery.
  • Learn and assist in maintaining the gym equipment, ensuring everything is in good condition and safe to use.
  • Support the development and maintenance of the overall recreational program, ensuring it remains engaging and beneficial to all participants.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience in teaching recreational gymnastics or ninja programs (training will be given in Ninja, experience will be a bonus but not essential).
  • Previous coaching experience, especially with Early Years, Kinder, or Junior age groups, is essential.
  • Knowledge of safety, safeguarding, and health & safety practices in a gym environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to develop lesson plans and structure programs effectively.
  • Enthusiasm, energy, and the ability to engage with children in a fun, educational manner.
  • Flexibility and willingness to assist in other areas of the gym as required.

SCHOOLS PROGRAMME MANAGER &

GYMNASTICS COACH

ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you passionate about gymnastics and coaching? Do you have strong organisational skills and a knack for creating a positive, supportive environment for both recreational and competitive athletes? We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Programme Manager & Gymnastics Coach to manage and deliver high-quality gymnastics services, both recreational and competitive, at one of our International Schools in Singapore. Working closely with the School Director and Recreational Manager, this role will ensure the growth and development of gymnasts at all levels while maintaining a focus on safety, communication, and the ongoing success of the program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

COACHING 

  • Deliver engaging, high-quality coaching sessions for both recreational and competitive gymnasts, tailored to the age and ability of each group.
  • Ensure that all coaching activities adhere to the relevant policies, procedures, and codes of practice, with a strong focus on safety.
  • Maintain a high standard of safeguarding, equality, and health & safety practices.
  • Communicate effectively with participants, coaches, and parents to foster a supportive and collaborative environment.
  • Coach during weekends, school holidays, and camps, ensuring availability for all required sessions.

PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT 

  • Develop, manage, and promote all gymnastics programmes at school, ensuring they are efficient, financially sustainable, and meet the needs of all participants.
  • Develop and maintain good professional relationships with the school Director of Sport and the rest of their team.
  • Oversee all recreational and competitive gymnasts at school, ensuring steady growth and progression.
  • Manage communications for competitions, including entry, travel, organisation on the day, and award announcements, ensuring deadlines and school policies are adhered to.
  • Supervise and support all coaches delivering gymnastics sessions, ensuring they have clear lesson plans and appropriate guidance.
  • Organise and promote MAG and WAG competitive squads and camps during school holidays.
  • Plan and organise termly open days/evenings to showcase the skills of competitive gymnasts to parents and the school community.

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES

  • Monitor and manage payments, ensuring all participants are up to date with fees.
  • Assist the School Director in coordinating cover for coaching sessions, ensuring that all lessons are well-planned and that safety protocols are followed.
  • Contribute to newsletters, showcasing gymnast achievements and promoting the programme to parents and the wider school community.
  • Provide timely feedback on the development of gymnasts to parents and relevant school staff.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • A qualified gymnastics coach with experience of coaching recreational gymnasts (experience of competitive is desirable but not essential)
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to build relationships with gymnasts, parents, coaches, and school staff.
  • A passion for developing young athletes and a commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and safe environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, school holidays, and camps.
  • Experience in programme management and event coordination is desirable.
